BISMARCK, N.D. – The North Star Athletic Association announced their sixteenth installment of the 2024-25 Men’s Basketball Players-of-the-Week Monday. JJ White of Mayville State (N.D.) swept both offense and defense players-of-the-week awards.
North Star Athletic Association Men's Basketball Player-of-the-Week – Offense and Defense
JJ White – Mayville State (N.D.) – 6’3" – Senior – guard – Peoria, Ariz. – White had a combined 44 points in fueling Mayville State (N.D.) to a 2-0 record for the week on the road in the North Star Athletic Association action. He scored 16 points, grabbed five rebounds, and stole the ball four times in MSU’s 77-73 victory at Dakota State (S.D.). He followed up with 28 points on his 10-of-13 field goals, 4-of-7 3-pointers, and 4-of-5 free throws in Comets’ 76-72 victory at Bellevue (Neb.). For the week, White averaged 22.0 points, 5.0 rebounds, and 3.5 steals per game. He was 16-of-28 from the field (57.1 percent) and made 6-of-7 free throws. He also stole the ball a total of seven times and grabbed ten total defense rebounds.

Dickinson State (N.D.) completed their North Star’s conference 3-game series sweep of Jamestown (N.D.) on Feb. 14, winning by the score of 81-59 in Dickinson. The Blue Hawks improved to 15-10 overall record and maintained their sole possession of first place in the standings with 10-3 record. The Jimmies fell to 14-12 overall record and 9-4 NSAA conference record. It was the lone contest in the NSAA action for both teams last weekend.
Mayville State (N.D.) earned a pair of road victories in the North Star action. The Comets held off Dakota State (S.D.) by the score of 77-73 on Feb. 14 and collected a 76-72 victory at Bellevue (Neb.) on Feb. 15. MSU is 17-10 overall record and 8-6 NSAA conference.
Valley City State (N.D.) also went 2-0 record on the road last weekend. The Vikings edged out the Bruins 61-59 on Feb. 14, followed by a 78-68 victory over DaSU on Feb. 15. VCSU is 14-12 overall record and 5-9 NSAA conference record. Bellevue is 12-14 overall record, while Dakota State is 11-14 overall record. Both teams are 4-9 record in the league.
Looking Ahead This Week
The North Star Athletic Association conference season is heading into their final regular season contests this weekend. Dakota State (S.D.) travels to Jamestown (N.D.), while Bellevue (Neb.) visits Dickinson State (N.D.) on Friday evening. Mayville State (N.D.) hosts Valley City State (N.D.) on the same night as they play their final regular season contest.
DaSU and BU swap places on Saturday, with the Trojans visiting the Blue Hawks and the Bruins traveling to the Jimmies.
