BISMARCK, N.D. – The North Star Athletic Association (NSAA) announced their eleventh edition of the 2024 Football Players-of-the-Week honors Monday. Jackson Simonson of Dickinson State (N.D.) was selected as the Offensive Player-of-the-Week, while his teammate Chase Miller was named as the Special Teams Player-of-the-Week. Deveon Moses of Dakota State (S.D.) was named Defensive Player-of-the-Week.
NSAA Football Offensive Player of the Week
Jackson Simonson – Dickinson State (N.D.) – 5’10” – 190 lbs., Sophomore – running back – Great Falls, Mont. – Simonson rushed 22 times for 136 yards and two touchdowns in propelling No. 17 ranked Dickinson State (N.D.) to their 42-24 road victory at Valley City State (N.D.). He also caught three passes for 33 yards and a touchdown. Simonson rushed for two touchdowns in the Blue Hawks’ 28-point second quarter outburst. He also added a two-yard touchdown reception near the end of the third quarter.
NSAA Football Defensive Player of the Week
Deveon Moses – Dakota State (S.D.) – 6’0” – 180 lbs., Junior – cornerback – Houston, Texas – Moses caught two interceptions in helping Dakota State (S.D.) shut down Mayville State (N.D.) 7-0 on the road, securing their winning record for the third time in the last four seasons. He caught his second interception of the game on DaSU’s 46-yard line with 2:21 remaining in the game, securing the victory as the Trojans used up the final 2:21 of the game. Moses also tallied two tackles in the game.
NSAA Football Special Teams Player of the Week
Chase Miller – Dickinson State (N.D.) – 5’10” – 170 lbs. – Sophomore – kicker – Torrington, Wyo. – Miller was perfect 5-for-5 on PAT extra point kicks in fueling No. 17 Dickinson State (N.D.) to their 42-24 road victory at Valley City State (N.D.). He also had seven kick-offs for 381 total yards, averaging 54.4 yards per kick-off. One of Miller’s kick-offs resulted in a touchback.

After a scoreless first quarter, Valley City State (N.D.) took the first lead of the game at 3-0 with 13:43 on the clock in the second quarter. No. 17 ranked Dickinson State (N.D.) erupted for 28 points in the second quarter, racing to a 28-3 halftime lead. VCSU outscored DiSU 14-7 in the third quarter, trimming the Blue Hawks’ lead to 35-17. Both teams scored a touchdown in the final quarter as Dickinson State stayed undefeated in the North Star conference play with a 42-24 victory in Valley City, N.D. The Blue Hawks registered 465 total offensive yards compared to the Vikings with 428 total offensive yards. Dickinson State is 8-1 overall record and 7-0 NSAA conference record. Valley City State is 3-6 overall record and 2-5 record in the North Star contests.
Dakota State (S.D.) and Mayville State (N.D.) went through a scoreless first half in Mayville, N.D. The Trojans kicked off the third quarter with a touchdown and held on to a 7-0 road victory. The Trojans collected 362 total offensive yards and held the Comets to 106 total offensive yards. Dakota State is 6-3 overall record and 4-3 NSAA conference record. Mayville State concluded their 2024 season with 4-6 overall record and 3-5 record in the league.
Jamestown (N.D.) was idle last week, remaining at 2-7 overall record and 2-5 NSAA conference record.
Looking Ahead
No. 17 Dickinson State (N.D.) hosts Dakota State (S.D.) in the battle of top two teams in the North Star conference on Saturday afternoon. Valley City State (N.D.) travels to Jamestown (N.D.) for the final regular-season contest.
Mayville State (N.D.) finished their 2024 season with a 4-6 overall record and 3-5 NSAA conference record.
