2023 NSAA Women’s Volleyball All-Conference Teams & Postseason awards announced

Awards presentation was held at Goss Opera House in Watertown, S.D.

WATERTOWN, S.D. – The 2023 North Star Athletic Association (NSAA) announced its All-Conference women’s volleyball teams and postseason awards Wednesday evening.  Awards were given out during the honors presentation at Goss Opera House in downtown Watertown on the eve of the North Star Volleyball conference postseason tournament at Civic Arena.

Viterbo (Wis.) earned the 2023 NSAA Women’s Volleyball regular-season conference outright title, completing the league schedule with an undefeated 12-0 record.

The six-team postseason tournament kicks off Thursday evening with No. 6 seed Waldorf (Iowa) playing No. 3 seed Bellevue (Neb.) at 4 p.m. in the quarterfinals round.  The second quarterfinal match will feature No. 5 seed Mayville State (N.D.) taking on No. 4 seed Dakota State (S.D.) at 6 p.m. 

No. 1 seed Viterbo and No. 2 seed Valley City State (N.D.) received the first-round bye and will play on Friday evening.

Kenzie Winker of Viterbo was selected as the NSAA Women’s Volleyball Player-of-the-Year.  Her teammates Jada Mitchell was chosen as the conference’s Offensive Player-of-the-Year for the second straight year and Kenidi McCabe was named as the league’s Libero Player-of-the-Year. 

Sadie Hansen of VCSU was voted as the North Star’s Setter-of-the-Year.  Kate VanRooyan of Dakota State (S.D.) was named to the NSAA Freshman-of-the-Year.

VU’s Ryan DeLong was chosen as the North Star Athletic Association’s Women’s Volleyball Coach-of-the-Year for the third consecutive year.  Thomas Robson of Viterbo was named as the NSAA Women’s Volleyball Assistant Coach-of-the-Year.

A total of 14 players are listed on the 2023 NSAA Women’s Volleyball All-Conference First-Team.  Eight players are named on the Second-Team All-Conference distinction.  A total of ten athletes returned as All-Conference from last season.

Viterbo and Bellevue (Neb.) each registered six All-Conference selections.  Valley City State recorded four NSAA All-Conference recipients. 

The North Star Athletic Association Champions of Character recipients were also honored at the awards presentation.

The NSAA All-Conference teams and postseason awards were selected by the league coaches.
