BISMARCK, N.D. – Dakota State (S.D.) will be the No. 1 seed for the upcoming 2025 North Star Athletic Association Women’s Basketball Postseason Tournament, which begins with the quarterfinals round on Wednesday evening.  The Trojans (22-4 overall record) won their fifth straight North Star women’s basketball regular season title with a 14-1 conference record.  The postseason tournament will be played at the higher seed’s campus sites in each round.

No. 2 seed belongs to Mayville State (N.D.) (18-9 overall record), where they finished the conference season with a 8-7 league record.  The No. 1 and 2 seeds will receive a bye in the quarterfinals round and play at home in the semifinals round, which is set for Saturday, March 1.

There was a tie for third place in the NSAA conference standings between Jamestown (N.D.) and Bellevue (Neb.) with 7-8 record each.  The No. 3 seed goes to the Jimmies after owning the tiebreaker in the head-to-head with the Bruins (2-1 record).

The quarterfinals round begin on Wednesday evening with Jamestown (17-9 overall record) taking on No. 6 seed Dickinson State (N.D.) (8-17 overall record, 3-12 NSAA conference record) at Newman Arena in Jamestown, N.D., at 7 p.m.

The other quarterfinal match-up features No. 4 seed Bellevue (Neb.) (15-13 overall record) hosting No. 5 seed Valley City State (N.D.) (14-13 overall record, 6-9 NSAA) at Bellevue University Fieldhouse in Bellevue, Neb., on Wednesday at 7 p.m. (6 p.m. Mountain Time).

Wednesday’s quarterfinals winners will advance to Saturday’s semifinals contests.  The winner of DiSU-UJ will travel to Mayville State for an 11 a.m. game, while the winner of VCSU-BU heads to Dakota State for 1 p.m. game.
 
The North Star Athletic Association Women’s Basketball Championship game is set for Tuesday evening, with times to be announced later (tentatively set for 7 p.m., unless there’s a doubleheader with the NSAA men’s basketball championship game).

The NSAA postseason tournament champion earns an automatic bid to the NAIA Women’s Basketball National Tournament’s opening round.  The national tournament opening round is scheduled for March 14-15.  The NAIA Women’s Basketball Selection Show will be held on Thursday, March 6, at 6 p.m. (Central Time) via NAIA’s YouTube page.

The winners of the NAIA’s opening round will advance to the final site at the Tyson Events Center in Sioux City, Iowa. on March 20-25.
