2025 North Star Athletic Association Softball Tournament Central

Conference tournament takes place at Sanford Sports Complex on Bravera Field in Dickinson, N.D.

BISMARCK, N.D. – The brackets and pairings for the 2025 North Star Athletic Association (NSAA) Postseason Softball Tournament are set for Thursday through next Sunday (May 1-4).  The postseason softball tournament is hosted by Dickinson State (N.D.) for the third consecutive year, held at Bravera Field on Sanford Sports Complex (220 1st Ave.) in Dickinson, N.D.

All six teams will play in the NSAA Softball Postseason Conference Tournament, which features a double elimination format.  The seeding is based on the regular-season North Star conference record (winning percentage).

Jamestown (N.D.) captured the North Star Athletic Association softball regular-season title with 16-4 record in the league (32-15 overall record).  The Jimmies receive a bye in the opening round and will not play their first game until Friday at 1 p.m. (Central Time)/12 p.m. (Mountain Time).

Dickinson State (N.D.) is the No. 2 seed with 14-6 NSAA record (28-14 overall record), followed by Bellevue (Neb.) at No. 3 seed with 12-8 conference record (28-19 overall record).

Valley City State (N.D.) secured the No. 4 seed at 22-21 overall record and 11-9 record in the league.  Mayville State (N.D.) is No. 5 seed with 10-35 overall record and 4-16 NSAA record.  Dakota State (S.D.) will be the No. 6 seed with 7-35 overall record and 3-17 record in the North Star.

The NSAA softball postseason tournament begins Thursday at 2 p.m. (Central Time)/1 p.m. (Mountain Time) with VCSU taking on MSU, followed by BU facing DaSU at 4:30 p.m. (Central Time)/3:30 p.m. (Mountain Time).

Friday’s schedule includes two winner’s games and two loser’s out games.  The winner’s bracket will kick off at 1 p.m. (CT)/12 p.m. (MT) with the top-seeded UJ taking on the winner of VCSU-MSU, followed by No. 2 seed DiSU facing the winner of BU-DaSU Game at 3 p.m. (CT)/2 p.m. (MT).

The first loser’s out game is set for 5 p.m. (CT)/4 p.m. (MT), followed by the second loser’s out game at 7 p.m. (CT)/6 p.m. (MT). 

A pair of undefeated teams will battle at 12 p.m. (CT)/11 a.m. (MT) Saturday, with the winner advancing to the championship game on Sunday afternoon.  Saturday’s schedule concludes with another pair of loser’s out contests, with the final elimination contest set for 3 p.m. (CT)/2 p.m. (MT).  The next loser’s out game is set for 5 p.m. (CT)/4 p.m. (MT), with the winner advancing to the championship game.

The NSAA Softball Postseason Championship game is set for Sunday at 1 p.m. (CT)/12 p.m. (MT).  If the undefeated team loses in the first championship game, then the second championship game is set for 30 minutes after the completion of the first game.

The tournament champion receives the NSAA’s automatic berth to the NAIA Softball National Championship Opening Round, which will be played on May 12-15 at campus sites.  The national opening round winners will move on to the 44th annual NAIA Softball World Series at South Commons Softball Complex in Columbus, Ga. on May 22-28.
