McCOOK LAKE, S.D.– Five Dakota State (S.D.) women's cross-country runners established school records Saturday morning in the Briar Cliff (Iowa) Invitational at Adams Homestead and Nature Preserve. Valerija Curikova set another DSU women's 6K school record in the meet., as well as three runners producing 'Top 10' school record list.
A total of 224 runners from all levels (NCAA Division I, II, and NAIA schools) competed in the 6K flat racecourse. Dakota State scored a low score of 310 points and finished 11
th out of 17 teams scored in the team standings. Dordt (Iowa) won the team title with a low score of 58 points.
Khot Juac of NCAA Division II Sioux Falls (S.D.) won the 6K individual time with a time of 20 minutes, 54.50 seconds.
Curikova clocked a new DSU 6K school record time of 21 minutes, 57.86 seconds to place ninth. She was the fifth best NAIA runner in the race. She broke her previous school record time of 23 minutes, 20.9 seconds in the Roy Griak Invitational in St. Paul, Minn., on Sept. 22.
Madelyn Sylva hit her personal record time of 23 minutes, 35.67 seconds to place 54
th for Dakota State. Her time is the third fastest time in the Trojan women's cross-country 6K 'Top 30' list. Lindsey Roth followed up with a personal record time of 23 minutes, 53.41 seconds for 65
th place finish. Her time is the fifth fastest time in the school record time.
Brooke Beaucaire finished 130
th after hitting a personal best time of 25 minutes, 8.69 seconds. Her time ranks 14
th fastest time in the school record book. Courtney Meyer registered a personal best time of 27 minutes, 1.9 seconds to finish 192
nd.
Dakota State concludes their regular-season schedule on Saturday, Oct. 21. The Trojans travel to Fox Run Golf Course in Yankton, S.D., as they compete in the Mount Marty (S.D.) Invitational.
