BISMARCK, N.D. – The North Star Athletic Association announced their ninth edition of the 2023-24 Women’s Basketball Player-of-the-Week Monday. Savannah Walsdorf of Dakota State (S.D.) was selected as the Women’s Basketball Player-of-the-Week.
North Star Athletic Association Women’s Basketball Player-of-the-Week
Savannah Walsdorf – Dakota State (S.D.) – 6’0” – Senior – forward – Kiel, Wis. – Walsdorf averaged 21.5 points, 6.5 rebounds, 3.0 steals, and 2.0 assists per game as No. 13 ranked Dakota State (S.D.) wrapped up their six-game road stretch undefeated after going 2-0 record in North Dakota. She poured in 24 points on her 10-of-14 field goals, including 3-of-4 from the 3-point line, DaSU’s 104-67 victory at Valley City State (N.D.). She followed up with 19 points on her 8-of-11 field goals and 3-of-5 3-pointers in Trojans’ 96-55 win at Dickinson State (N.D.). She grabbed eight rebounds in the game. For the week, Walsdorf hit 18-of-25 from the field (72.0 percent) and drained 6-of-9 3-pointers (66.7 percent).

Dakota State (S.D.), ranked No. 13 in the latest NAIA Women’s Basketball Coaches’ Top 25 national poll, wrapped up their six-game road trip undefeated after going 2-0 record in North Dakota. The Trojans cruised past Valley City State (N.D.) 104-67 on Jan. 12 and Dickinson State (N.D.) 96-55 on Jan. 13 in the North Star Athletic Association action. Dakota State extended their winning streak to seven games and raised their overall record to 15-4 and 3-0 NSAA conference record.
Bellevue (Neb.) earned an overtime victory at Dickinson State by the score of 66-57 on Jan. 12. VCSU rallied back from double digit deficit to defeat the Bruins 70-69 on Jan. 13. Valley City State is 7-9 overall record and 1-1 NSAA conference record. Bellevue is 8-10 overall record and 1-2 record in the league. The Blue Hawks fell to 5-11 overall record and 0-2 NSAA conference record.
Viterbo (Wis.) opened their North Star Athletic Association play with an 83-78 home overtime victory over Waldorf (Iowa) on Jan. 10.
No. 18 ranked Mayville State (N.D.) kicked off their North Star conference schedule with a sweep over Viterbo and Waldorf. The Comets defeated the V-Hawks 58-51 on Jan. 12 and the Warriors 87-53 on Jan. 13. MSU ballooned their winning streak to eight games, raising their overall record to 13-2 and 2-0 NSAA conference record. Viterbo is 6-7 overall record and 1-1 NSAA conference record. Waldorf dropped to 5-10 overall record and 0-2 record in the conference.
Looking Ahead This Week
The North Star Athletic Association action continues this week on Friday and Saturday with six total games scheduled.
Viterbo (Wis.) stays on the road as they visit No. 13 ranked Dakota State (S.D.) Friday evening. Waldorf (Iowa) also remains on the road as they travel to Bellevue (Neb.) on the same night. Dickinson State (N.D.) continues their home stand Friday, hosting Valley City State (N.D.).
Viterbo and Waldorf swap places on Saturday with VU at BU and WU at DaSU. No. 18 ranked Mayville State (N.D.) heads on the road to Dickinson State on the same day.
