BISMARCK, N.D. – The North Star Athletic Association announced their eighth edition of the 2023-24 Women’s Basketball Player-of-the-Week Monday. Tabor Teel of Dakota State (S.D.) was selected as the Women’s Basketball Player-of-the-Week.
North Star Athletic Association Women’s Basketball Player-of-the-Week
Tabor Teel – Dakota State (S.D.) – 5’11” – Sophomore – forward – Colton, S.D. – Teel averaged double-double as No. 13 ranked Dakota State (S.D.) went 2-0 record on the road for the week, including a victory over No. 8 ranked Briar Cliff (Iowa) and the North Star Athletic Association road victory at Bellevue (Neb.). She poured in a career high 23 points and grabbed 10 rebounds in Trojans’ 71-70 victory over BCU, including hitting the game-winning free-throws with less than 25 seconds to go in the game. She also had three blocks and three steals in the game. Teel followed up with six points and collected 12 rebounds in DaSU’s 66-41 victory over BU. She tallied a career-high six blocks in the game. For the week, Teel averaged 14.5 points and 11.0 rebounds per game. She also averaged an impressive 4.5 blocks per game, as well as 2.5 steals per game.

Dakota State (S.D.), ranked No. 13 in the latest NAIA Women’s Basketball Coaches’ Top 25 national poll, edged out No. 8 ranked Briar Cliff (Iowa) in the battle of NAIA’s Top 25 teams on Jan. 3. The Trojans earned a 71-70 thrilling victory over the Chargers. DaSU earned the North Star Athletic Association season opener victory by the score of 66-41 at Bellevue (Neb.) on Jan. 6. The Trojans lifted their overall record to 13-4 after winning five straight games (1-0 NSAA conference record).
Bellevue dropped their final non-conference contest of the season on Jan. 2, falling to Hastings (Neb.) by the score of 62-50. The Bruins fell to 7-9 overall record and 0-1 NSAA conference record.
Waldorf (Iowa) returned home on Jan. 3, rallying back to defeat NCAA Division III Minnesota-Morris by the score of 65-59. The Warriors improved their overall record to 5-8.
Viterbo (Wis.) extended their winning streak to three games after defeating NCAA Division III Martin Luther (Minn.) 69-57 on the road on Jan. 4. The V-Hawks are 5-6 overall record on the season.
Dickinson State (N.D.) played their first home games of the 2024 portion of the schedule, sweeping Briercrest (Manitoba) in a pair of games. The Blue Hawks won the first game by the score of 72-48 on Jan. 5, and held on to win by the score of 55-46 on Jan. 6. DiSU is 5-9 overall record.
No. 18 ranked Mayville State (N.D.) (11-2 overall record) and Valley City State (N.D.) (6-8 overall record) were idle last week.
Looking Ahead This Week
Waldorf (Iowa) and Viterbo (Wis.) open their North Star Athletic Association season on Wednesday evening in La Crosse, Wis.
The North Star Athletic Association action continues Friday with No. 13 ranked Dakota State (S.D.) traveling to Valley City State (N.D.). Bellevue (Neb.) visits Dickinson State (N.D.), while No. 18 Mayville State (N.D.) hosts Viterbo (Wis.).
Saturday’s schedule includes BU at VCSU, Waldorf at MSU, and DaSU at DiSU.
