2023 North Star Athletic Association Fall Sports Scholar-Athletes list released

289 recipients were recognized for their outstanding academic accomplishment in the classroom

BISMARCK, N.D. – The North Star Athletic Association (NSAA) is pleased to announce its academic scholar-athletes for the 2023 fall sports season Thursday.  A total of 289 student-athletes received this prestigious academic achievement award. 

The 289 recipients were recognized for their outstanding academic accomplishment in the classroom and on the playing field/court.  The North Star’s fall sports included women’s cross country, men’s cross country, women’s volleyball, and football.

To be eligible for the NSAA Academic Scholar-Athlete, a student-athlete must achieve a cumulative grade point average (GPA) of 3.25 on a 4.0 and participate in a junior varsity or varsity contest.  In addition to the criteria, each athlete must be certified on an eligibility certificate, excluding freshman redshirts.

Dakota State (S.D.) led the list with 81 student-athletes, followed by Dickinson State (N.D.) with 55 student-athletes.  Valley City State (N.D.) registered 43 student-athletes, followed by Mayville State (N.D.) with 38 student-athletes, and Waldorf (Iowa) with 28 athletes.  Bellevue (Neb.) had a total of 23 scholar-athletes on the list, while Viterbo (Wis.) tallied 21 scholar-athletes.
