BISMARCK, N.D. – The North Star Athletic Association announced their fifth edition of the 2024-25 Women’s and Men’s Indoor Track & Field Athletes-of-the-Week Tuesday. Dickinson State (N.D.) earned another sweep of women’s weekly awards, with Kori Nagel named as Field Athlete-of-the-Week and her teammate Jewel Olson being selected as Track Athlete-of-the-Week. Dylan Dahlgren of Dickinson State was chosen as Men’s Field Athlete-of-the-Week. Nolan Slominski of Dakota State (S.D.) was named as Men’s Track Athlete-of-the-Week.
North Star Athletic Association Women’s Indoor Field Athlete of the Week
Kori Nagel – Dickinson State (N.D.) – Junior – Center, N.D. – Nagel won a pair of throwing titles with the NAIA ‘A’ automatic qualifying marks for Dickinson State (N.D.) at the NCAA Division II meet, the University of Mary (N.D.) Winter Classic. She tossed 17.62 meters (57 feet, 9.75 inches) to win the weight throw title. Her weight throw toss is currently sixth best in the nation. Nagel also won the shot-put title with a toss of 14.56 meters mark (47 feet, 9.25 inches). She is currently the third best NAIA shot put thrower.
North Star Athletic Association Men’s Indoor Field Athlete of the Week
Dylan Dahlgren – Dickinson State (N.D.) – Junior – Soldotna, Alaska – Dahlgren produced a career best weight throw mark for Dickinson State (N.D.) at the NCAA Division II meet, the University of Mary (N.D.) Winter Classic. He threw 18.32 meters mark (60 feet, 1.25 inches) to win the weight throw title. His mark is the NAIA ‘B’ provisional qualifying mark and leads the North Star Athletic Association in weight throw. Dahlgren added 14.17 meters mark (46 feet, 6 inches) in the shot put.
North Star Athletic Association Women’s Indoor Track Athlete of the Week
Jewel Olson – Dickinson State (N.D.) – Senior – Wolf Point, Mont. – Olson won the 400-meter dash title for Dickinson State (N.D.) at the NCAA Division II meet, the University of Mary (N.D.) Winter Classic. She clocked a time of 59.84 seconds to win the title. Olson also ran in the 200-meter dash, registering a time of 26.22 seconds to earn a fifth-place finish in the field.
North Star Athletic Association Men’s Indoor Track Athlete of the Week
Nolan Slominski – Dakota State (S.D.) – Sophomore – Blair, Neb. – Slominski hit the NAIA ‘B’ provisional qualifying time in the 800-meter run for Dakota State (S.D.) at the NCAA Division I meet hosted by South Dakota State, the Jim Emmerich Alumni Meet. He finished with a time of 1 minute, 53.70 seconds to finish sixth overall in the race. He leads the NSAA conference in the 800-meter run and 14
th in the NAIA. Slominski was also a member of the 4 x 400-meter relay team that finished with a time of 3 minutes, 24.29 seconds.
Looking Ahead
Bellevue (Neb.) heads to Crete, Neb., for the Fred Beile Classic, hosted by Doane (Neb.).
Dakota State (S.D.) returns to Brookings, S.D., for the second straight weekend, competing in the two-day Sout Dakota State D2/NAIA Open on Friday and Saturday. Dickinson State (N.D.) is also scheduled to compete in the same meet.
Jamestown (N.D.) and Valley City State (N.D.) compete in the NCAA Division I North Dakota Multi & Open on Saturday.
