BROOKINGS, S.D. – Dickinson State (N.D.) led wire to wire in the 2025 North Star Athletic Association Women’s Indoor Track & Field Championship Sunday at Sanford-Jackrabbit Athletic Conference. The Blue Hawks extended their streak to seven conference women’s indoor track & field conference title, totaling 279.5 points.
Dakota State (S.D.) placed second in the team standings after scoring a team conference record of 185 points. It was the second straight year that the Trojans finished second, their fourth time in the last five seasons.
Valley City State (N.D.) edged Jamestown (N.D.) 75-72.5 to place third. Bellevue (Neb.) was fifth with three points.
The scoring system is set for top eight place finishers on 10-8-6-5-4-3-2-1 basis.
DiSU’s Kaitlyn McColly repeated as the NSAA Women’s Indoor Field Athlete-of-the-Meet for the third consecutive year. She scored 34 points in the field events, winning the pentathlon (3,570 points), as well as collecting second place finishes in the high jump (1.60 meters – 5 feet, 3 inches), long jump (5.19 meters – 17 feet, .5 inches), and triple jump (10.64 meters – 34 feet, 11 inches).
McColly was also named to NSAA Women’s Indoor Track & Field Most Valuable Athlete, voted by the league head coaches. It was her second straight year that she had received the award.
Karly Just of Valley City State (N.D.) was awarded as the NSAA Women’s Indoor Track Athlete-of-the Meet, scoring the most points in the running events with 26.5 points. She won a pair of running titles in the 5000-meters (18 minutes, 44.13 seconds) and 3000-meters (10 minutes, 56.78 seconds), fifth place in the 1-mile run (5:35.05) and a member of the 4 x 400-meter relay team that finished third (5:08.53).
Just earned the NSAA Women’s Track Athlete-of-the-Meet for the first time in program history.
Shayne Wittkopp of Dickinson State was chosen as the conference’s Coach-of-the-Year award for the seventh straight year. He guided the Blue Hawks to 13 event titles in the conference meet.
The official list of the North Star Athletic Association Indoor Track & Field All-Conference will be announced Tuesday.
