2025 NSAA Softball Players-of-the-Week No. 8 edition announced

BU's Unverzagt and MSU's Tulla named to this week's softball weekly awards

BISMARCK, N.D. – The North Star Athletic Association announced their eighth installment of the Softball Players-of-the-Week, announced Monday by the conference office.  Mariah Unverzagt of Bellevue (Neb.) was selected as the Pitcher-of-the-Week.  Lindsey Tulla of Mayville State (N.D.) was named as the Player-of-the-Week.

Mariah Unverzagt – Bellevue (Neb.) – Sophomore – pitcher – Papillion, Neb. – Unverzagt went 2-0 record in the pitching circle for the week for Bellevue (Neb.).  She did not allow an earned run while striking out seven times.  Unverzagt earned victories over Peru State (Neb.) after working 3 2/3 innings and limited the Bobcats to two hits.  She followed with a complete game 5-0 shutout victory at (RV) Jamestown (N.D.).  She scattered seven hits in the game and recorded seven strikeouts.

Lindsey Tulla – Mayville State (N.D.) – Sophomore – utility – Bovey, Minn. – Tulla was near perfect at the plate as Mayville State (N.D.) earned their first conference wins of the season after sweeping Dakota State (S.D.).  She was 6-for-7 at the plate (.857 batting average), produced an on-base percentage of .857, and posted a slugging percentage of 1.286 (nine total bases).  She hit three doubles and drove in three runs for the day.  Tulla also scored five times.

Recap from last week’s games
Dickinson State (N.D.), receiving votes in the latest NAIA Softball Coaches’ Top 25 national poll, split the North Star Athletic Association doubleheader with Valley City State (N.D.) on April 19.  The Blue Hawks are 26-10 overall record and 12-2 record in the league.  The Vikings are 18-19 overall record and 7-7 NSAA conference record.

Jamestown (N.D.), who also received votes recognition in the latest national poll, went 2-2 record in the NSAA’s home four-game series with Bellevue (Neb.).  Both teams split a pair of games on each day on April 18-19.  The Jimmies are 29-14 overall record and 13-3 NSAA conference record.  The Bruins, who defeated Peru State (Neb.) on April 16, are 25-17 overall record and 10-6 record in the North Star contests.

Mayville State (N.D.) earned their first North Star conference wins of the season, sweeping Dakota State (S.D.) on April 19.  The Comets ended their losing skid, improving to 8-31 overall record and 2-12 record in the league.  The Trojans, who fell short to Mount Marty (S.D.) on April 15, is 4-32 overall record and 0-14 NSAA conference record.

Looking Ahead
The NAIA softball heads to their final week of regular season play.  Valley City State (N.D.) travels to (RV) Dickinson State (N.D.) Monday (today), while Dakota State (S.D.) visits Mayville State (N.D.) on the same day for a doubleheader to complete their four-game series.

Bellevue (Neb.) plays a mid-week non-conference contest at Concordia (Neb.) on Wednesday evening.

The final North Star Athletic Association four-game series is slated for this weekend with traveling partners facing each other with home-and-away doubleheaders.  Friday’s schedule includes Dakota State at Bellevue, Mayville State (N.D.) at Valley City State (N.D.), and the battle of the top two teams between Dickinson State and (RV) Jamestown (N.D.).  All teams switch sites on Sunday, except for VCSU traveling to MSU on Saturday.
