2024 NSAA Cross Country No. 4 edition weekly honors announced

BU's Nelson and DaSU's Sayler selected to this week's conference cross-country awards

BISMARCK, N.D. – The North Star Athletic Association announced their fourth installment of women’s and men’s cross-country Runners-of-the-Week Tuesday.  Madison Nelson of Bellevue (Neb.) was selected as the Women’s Runner-of-the-Week.  Caleb Sayler of Dakota State (S.D.) was named as the Men’s Runner-of-the-Week.

Madison Nelson – Bellevue (Neb.) – Senior – Plattsmouth, Neb. – Nelson finished 36th overall record in a field of 307 runners from all collegiate levels at NCAA Division I meet, the Gans Creek Classic for Bellevue (Neb.).  She was the 13th NAIA runner in a loaded field of nationally ranked teams.  Nelson finished with a time of 22 minutes, 33 seconds in the 6K racecourse, which is the fourth fastest time in school history.  She was the top North Star Athletic Association finisher in the race.

NSAA Men’s Cross-Country Runner-of-the-Week
Caleb Sayler – Dakota State (S.D.) – Senior – Lennox, S.D. – Sayler led Dakota State (S.D.) to a 74th place finish in the packed Gans Creek Classic, featuring a total of nearly 400 runners from numerous collegiate teams from NCAA Division I to junior colleges in the 8K racecourse hosted by NCAA Division I University of Missouri.  He clocked a time of 25 minutes, 28.4 seconds in the race and finished as the top North Star Athletic Association runner.  Sayler’s time is the 14th fastest in the DaSU’s school history.

Looking Ahead
Jamestown (N.D.) hosts their own cross-country meet on Friday afternoon, hosting the Jimmie Invitational.  Dickinson State (N.D.) and Valley City State (N.D.) are scheduled to compete in the cross-country meet in Jamestown, N.D.
