BISMARCK, N.D. – The North Star Athletic Association announced their seventeenth and final installment of the 2024-25 Men’s Basketball Players-of-the-Week Monday. JJ White of Mayville State (N.D.) was selected as the Offense Player-of-the-Week for the second straight week. Cordell Stinson of Dickinson State (N.D.) was chosen as the Defense Player-of-the-Week.
North Star Athletic Association Men's Basketball Player-of-the-Week – Offense
JJ White – Mayville State (N.D.) – 6’3" – Senior – guard – Peoria, Ariz. – White scored 28 points to guide Mayville State (N.D.) to their 100-66 home victory over Valley City State (N.D.) in the North Star Athletic Association regular season finale. He was 10-of-16 from the field (62.5 percent), including hitting six 3-pointers in nine attempts. He also hit a pair of free throws. White added three rebounds and an assist in the game.
North Star Athletic Association Men's Basketball Player-of-the-Week – Defense
Cordell Stinson – Dickinson State (N.D.) – 6’5" – Junior – forward – Reno, Nev. – Stinson averaged 7.5 defensive rebounds and 1.5 blocks per game to help Dickinson State (N.D.) secure the North Star Athletic Association regular season title outright after a pair of home victories. He grabbed six defensive rebounds and registered two blocks in Blue Hawks’ 74-70 victory over Bellevue (Neb.). Stinson followed up with nine defensive rebounds and a block in DiSU’s 76-60 win over Dakota State (S.D.). Dickinson State allowed their opponents to 65 points per game for the weekend.

Dickinson State (N.D.) wrapped up their regular season with a pair of home victories, securing the North Star Athletic Association regular season outright title. The Blue Hawks defeated Bellevue (Neb.) 74-70 on Feb. 21 and 76-60 over Dakota State (S.D.) on Feb. 22. Dickinson State is 17-10 overall record and finished their conference schedule with a 12-3 record.
Jamestown (N.D.) also went 2-0 record at home and finished second in the North Star conference standings. The Jimmies defeated the Trojans 86-77 on Feb. 21 and the Bruins 75-50 on Feb. 22. UJ is 16-12 overall record and completed their conference season with an 11-4 record.
Bellevue and Dakota State finished their conference season in a tie for fifth place in the standings with 4-11 record each. The Bruins are 12-16 overall record, while the Trojans are 11-16 overall record.
Mayville State (N.D.) rolled to a 100-66 home victory over Valley City State (N.D.) in the regular season finale on Feb. 21. The Comets are 18-10 overall record and finished the league with a 9-6 record, third in the standings. The Vikings (14-13 overall record) finished fourth in the conference standings with a 5-10 record.
Looking Ahead This Week
The North Star Athletic Association (NSAA) Men’s Basketball Postseason Tournament is set to kick off Wednesday evening with the quarterfinals round. No. 6 seed Dakota State (S.D.) heads to No. 3 seed Mayville State (N.D.). No. 4 seed Valley City State (N.D.) hosts No. 5 seed Bellevue (Neb.) in the other quarterfinal match up on the same night.
The quarterfinal winners move on to the semifinals on Saturday, March 1. No. 2 seed Jamestown (N.D.) hosts the winner of DaSU-MSU game, while No. 1 seed Dickinson State (N.D.) welcomes the winner of BU-VCSU game.
The NSAA Men’s Basketball Postseason Tournament championship game is set for Tuesday, March 4 at the highest remaining seed. The game tips off at 7 p.m. local time (tentatively).
