BISMARCK, N.D. – The North Star Athletic Association (NSAA) held their final championship event of the conference era on May 8-9 in the outdoor track & field meet at Badlands Activity Center and Roger Huffman Field (at Biesiot Activities Center), hosted by Dickinson State (N.D.). The host-team Dickinson State ended Dakota State’s (S.D.) streak of five consecutive team titles after scoring 305 points.
The postseason awards included NSAA Field and Track Athletes-of-the-Meet, NSAA Most Valuable Athlete, and Coach-of-the-Year. Those awards were announced at the conclusion of the conference meet on May 9.
Chantz Minear of Dakota State was selected as the North Star Men’s Outdoor Track & Field Most Valuable Athlete. Kohbe Smith of Dickinson State and Dawson Sedivec of Jamestown (N.D.) shared the NSAA Men’s Outdoor Field Athlete-of-the-Meet. Lukas Bennett of Dakota State claimed the NSAA Men’s Outdoor Track Athlete-of-the-Meet.
Shayne Wittkopp of DiSU received the NSAA Men’s Outdoor Track & Field Coach-of-the-Year honor.
Six North Star Athletic Association conference meet records were set during the two-day outdoor track & field meet.
