Dickinson State Men Lead After Day One of NSAA Outdoor Track & Field Championships

DICKINSON, N.D. – Host-school Dickinson State surged to the top of the men’s standings Thursday during the opening day of the 2025 North Star Athletic Association (NSAA) Outdoor Track & Field Championships, held at the Biesiot Activities Center.

The Blue Hawks amassed 141 points through the first day of competition, building a 26-point lead over five-time defending champion Dakota State (115). Valley City State sits in third with 36 points, followed closely by Jamestown (34) and Bellevue (18).

Dickinson State earned five individual titles on the men’s side, showcasing its strength across the track and field spectrum.Porter Kreider led the way in the throws with a winning mark of 57.44 meters in the javelin, while Adrien Calderon cleared 4.45 meters to win the pole vault. Kohbe Smith captured the triple jump title with a leap of 14.21 meters.

On the track, the Blue Hawks added valuable points with multiple top-eight finishes. Dakota State, however, kept pace with key victories of its own. Chantz Minear took first in the 110-meter hurdles with a time of 14.60 seconds, and the Trojan 4x800-meter relay team dominated the field, winning in 7:42.74.

Valley City State’s Jordan Mount was the fastest in the 400-meter dash, breaking the 49-second barrier to win in 48.94 seconds.

Bellevue’s Alvin Keter claimed the 10,000-meter title, crossing in 33:00.12, while Jamestown’s Dawson Sedivec took the men’s hammer throw with a standout toss of 59.70 meters.
