BISMARCK, N.D. – The North Star Athletic Association (NSAA) is pleased to announce the 2020-21 Men's Basketball All-Conference selections and postseason awards.
Mayville State (N.D.) won the North Star Athletic Association men's basketball regular-season conference title outright with a 10-3 record. It was the first North Star conference regular-season title in program history.
Bellevue (Neb.) defeated Dakota State (S.D.) 63-57 in the North Star Athletic Association men's basketball postseason tournament's title game on Feb. 27 at Gordon Lozier Center in Bellevue. The Bruins earned the league's automatic bid to the NAIA National Tournament Opening Round, which is scheduled for March 12-13. The opening round winners will move on to the final site at Municipal Gymnasium in Kansas City, Mo. on March 18-23.
Latrelle Franklin of Mayville State was selected as the league's Player-of-the-Year. Chris Thompson of Valley City State (N.D.) was chosen as the conference's Defensive Player-of-the-Year. Bryce Knox of Dickinson State (N.D.) was named as the North Star Athletic Association's Newcomer-of-the-Year.
MSU's Darren Tighe was chosen as the conference's Coach-of-the-Year award.
The following athletes were selected by the conference coaches as All-Conference First and Second Teams. There is a list of Honorable Mention recipients.
A total of six seniors are listed on the All-Conference Teams – with two seniors listed on the First Team All-Conference and four seniors on the Second-Team All-Conference.
