Women's Outdoor Track and Field Dickinson State (N.D.) sweeps women's honor; Roberts (DaSU) and Holmes (WU) receive men's award

NSAA Women’s & Men’s Outdoor Track & Field Athletes-of-the-Week No. 3 edition announced

BISMARCK, N.D. – The North Star Athletic Association announced its third installment of the Women’s and Men’s Outdoor Track & Field Athletes-of-the-Week Tuesday.  Dickinson State (N.D.) swept the women’s weekly honors as Kori Nagel was selected as Field Athlete-of-the-Week, while her teammate Wrenzi Wrzesinski was chosen as the Track Athlete-of-the-Week.  Treshawn Roberts of Dakota State (S.D.) was named the Men’s Field Athlete-of-the-Week.  Khalmarly Holmes of Waldorf (Iowa) was selected as the Men’s Track Athlete-of-the-Week.

Kori Nagel – Dickinson State (N.D.) – Sophomore – Center, N.D. – Nagel produced three national qualifying marks in the Montana State-Billings Yellowjacket Invitational for Dickinson State (N.D.).  She hit the NAIA ‘A’ automatic qualifying mark of 45.58 meters (149 feet, 6 inches) to win the discus throw title.  Nagel added the shot-put title with the NAIA ‘B’ provisional qualifying mark of 13.26 meters (43 feet, 6 inches).  She earned a runner-up honor in the hammer throw with the NAIA ‘B’ provisional mark of 49.52 meters (162 feet, 6 inches).  Nagel’s hammer throw is also her career-best mark.

Treshawn Roberts – Dakota State (S.D.) – Junior – Auburn, Wash. – Roberts established a new school record in the decathlon for Dakota State (S.D.) in the NCAA Division I Meet, the University of South Dakota Early Bird.  He won the decathlon by scoring 6,772 points.  Roberts leads the North Star Athletic Association and NAIA in decathlon.  In addition, he holds the top marks in the North Star conference in the pole vault and the javelin.

Wrenzi Wrzesinski – Dickinson State (N.D.) – Senior – Baker, Mont. – Wrzesinski earned a pair of first-place finishes for Dickinson State (N.D.) in the Montana State-Billings Yellowjacket Invitational.  She clocked the NAIA ‘A’ automatic qualifying and school record time of 1 minute, 2.14 seconds to win the 400-meter hurdles.  She added a time of 14.75 seconds to capture the 100-meter hurdles title.  Wrzesinski’s times in the 100- and 400-meter hurdles are the fastest times in the North Star Athletic Association.

Khalmarly Holmes – Waldorf (Iowa) – Senior – Homestead, Fla. – Holmes captured the 400-meter hurdles in the NCAA Division I meet, the University of South Dakota Early Bird Invitational, for Waldorf (Iowa).  He clocked a personal record time of 53.75 seconds in the race, producing the NAIA ‘B’ Provisional qualifying time.  He also finished eighth in the 400-meter dash with a time of 49.41 seconds.  Holmes was an anchor in the Warriors’ 4 x 400-meter relay that finished fourth after registering a time of 3 minutes, 27.27 seconds.

Looking Ahead
Bellevue (Neb.) and Dakota State (S.D.) prepare for the 2023 Sioux City Relays, held at Olsen Stadium on the campus of Morningside (Iowa) on Friday and Saturday.
Dickinson State (N.D.) hosts their home meet, the Blue Hawks Games, on Sunday.  Valley City State (N.D.) is also scheduled to compete in the meet.

Iowa Wesleyan is set to compete in the Cornell (Iowa) Invitational Saturday in Mount Vernon, Iowa.

Viterbo (Wis.) and Waldorf (Iowa) travel to Decorah, Iowa, on Saturday for the Luther (Iowa) Invitational.

The NSAA Player of the Week is selected from a pool of conference players of the week.  Sports information director representatives from each conference institution may nominate players for the specific conference award in each category.  A voting panel comprising of sports information directors from each conference institution vote using the PrestoSports secure platform.
