BISMARCK, N.D. – The North Star Athletic Association announced their seventh and final installment of the Outdoor Track & Field weekly honors Tuesday. Dickinson State (N.D.) swept the women’s weekly honors with Faith Brennan being named the Field Athlete-of-the-Week, while her teammate Jewel Olson was selected for the Track Athlete-of-the-Week award. Nolan Slominski Dakota State (S.D.) was chosen as the Men’s Track Athlete-of-the-Week. Dylan Dahlgren of Dickinson State was named the Men’s Field Athlete-of-the-Week.
North Star Athletic Association Women’s Outdoor Field Athlete of the Week
Faith Brennan – Dickinson State (N.D.) – Sophomore – Kalispell, Mont. – Brennan posted her personal record in the long jump for Dickinson State (N.D.) at the NCAA Division II University of Mary (N.D.) meet, the Marauders Tune up. She won the title after leaping the NAIA ‘A’ automatic qualifying mark of 6.08 meters (19 feet, 11.5 inches). Her mark is seventh best in the NAIA women’s long jump. Brennan also won the triple jump title with 11.68 meters leap (38 feet, 4 inches).
North Star Athletic Association Men’s Outdoor Field Athlete of the Week
Dylan Dahlgren – Dickinson State (N.D.) – Junior – Soldotna, Alaska – Dahlgren captured the men’s hammer throw title for Dickinson State (N.D.) at the Marauders Tune up, hosted by NCAA Division II Mary (N.D.). He threw the NAIA ‘B’ provisional qualifying mark of 59.09 meters (193 feet, 10 inches). His mark is second best in the North Star Athletic Association. Dahlgren added a personal best of 46.65 meters (153 feet, 1 inch) to finish second in the discus.
North Star Athletic Association Women’s Outdoor Track Athlete of the Week
Jewel Olson – Dickinson State (N.D.) – Senior – Wolf Point, Mont. – Olson of Dickinson State (N.D.) hit the NAIA ‘B’ provisional qualifying time in the 400-meter dash at the NCAA Division II meet, the Marauders’ Tune-Up. She clocked a time of 56.27 seconds in the race, earning a runner-up finish. Olson was also on the Blue Hawks’ 4 x 800-meter relay team that won the title, clocking a time of 9 minutes, 37.25 seconds.
North Star Athletic Association Men’s Outdoor Track Athlete of the Week
Nolan Slominski – Dakota State (S.D.) – Sophomore – Blair, Neb. – Slominski tied the fifth fastest 800-meter run in Dakota State’s (S.D.) school history at the NCAA Division I meet, the University of South Dakota Tune up. He clocked a time of 1 minute, 52.06 seconds in the race, featuring numerous NCAA Division I and II schools. Slominski’s time leads the North Star Athletic Association men’s 800-meter run. He was also on the Trojans’ 4 x 400-meter relay team that finished with a time of 3 minutes, 27.53 seconds.
Looking Ahead
Five North Star Athletic Association members prepare for the upcoming 2025 conference meet, hosted by Dickinson State (N.D.) at Biesiot Activities Center in Dickinson, N.D. Bellevue (Neb.), Dakota State (S.D.), Dickinson State (N.D.), Jamestown (N.D.) and Valley City State (N.D.) are set to compete in the conference meet.
The conference meet begins on Thursday morning at 10 a.m. (Central Time)/9 a.m. (Mountain Time) with the long-distance, field, and sprint events prelims.
The NSAA Outdoor Track & Field Championships conclude on Friday with a full day of events and will end the era of North Star Athletic Association.
